Our Private Brands offer customers outstanding quality at great prices, and we are looking for software engineers to build new systems that will help customers discover our Private Brands products.

The Amazon Private Brands Discovery team helps customers discover and engage with new, popular, and relevant products and categories from our private brands across Amazon worldwide. We do this by combining technology, science, innovation, and creativity to build new customer-facing features and experiences.

About You:

You are a Senior Software Developer looking to challenge yourself to solve complex problems at scale. You want to exercise and expand your creative thinking skills and technical chops to become an even deeper expert in the discovery space. You are a true owner, passionate about the business, and drive relentlessly to optimize and improve our deliverables, allowing the business to move at a fast pace. You collaborate with product managers, applied scientists, and partner teams. You are comfortable with ambiguity and willing to develop quick proof of concepts, iterate and improve. You create extensible designs and easy-to-maintain solutions with the long-term vision in mind. You evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools. You mentor junior engineers.

The team offers highly motivated engineers diverse challenges building world-class, highly available service technologies, comprehending big data, and delivering ML-based solutions.

Key job responsibilities

As a Senior Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying distributed systems and large-scale solutions for our customer base. In this, you will collaborate with leaders, work backwards from customers, identify problems, propose innovative solutions, and relentlessly raise standards. You will also drive the system architecture, spearhead best practices that enable a quality product, and help coach and develop junior engineers. A successful candidate will have an established background in engineering large scale software systems, a strong technical ability, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
