We're looking for a North America regional lead to drive the implementation and continuous improvement of safety and compliance policy for non-food consumables (inc. Cosmetics, Detergents, OTC drugs, Medical Devices, and Chemical products). The candidate in question will help build a business by developing high level policies, processes, and innovative scalable solutions, whilst maintaining high standards for regional compliance.

Key job responsibilities

• Work with the Regulatory Intelligence Team to complete impact assessments for new, emerging, and changing North American consumable product regulatory requirements

• Provide technical insight to Public Policy teams to support the development of Amazon positions

• Partner with requirements leads to develop and maintain safety and compliance protocols

• Execute high judgement decision making for product development related escalations

• Drive continuous improvement of supplier performance linked to safety and compliance

• Develop robust E2E compliance processes and procedures to ensure effective ongoing PLM

• Provide guidance to business and legal teams on product safety and compliance issues

• Leverage expertise to enable portfolio growth and expansion into new geographic territories

• Develop relationships with relevant industry bodies to obtain insights and help shape the future regulatory landscape

• Support the Global Lead in embedding strategic compliance initiatives within regional business units.

About the team

The PBPSC Policy and Compliance Team (PACT) identifies and analyzes compliance requirements, with responsibility for Requirement Ingestion, Requirement Review and Assessment, Product-Type Protocol Management, Secondary Requirements. Lead Technical functions reside within this team, focused on escalations and Technical Assessments, for example Risk Assessment and Risk Frameworks, High Severity Product Safety Investigations, Regulatory Intelligence full impact assessments and Chemical Management.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of regulatory compliance experience within a manufacturer/ retailer/ agency environment across a range of consumable product types including; cosmetics, OTC drugs, Medical devices, or detergents

  • Bachelor's Degree with a Life science, Chemistry, or Legal focus

  • Experience creating sustainable processes with mechanisms used to ensure compliance

  • Experience working in a multi-national company within an international team

  • Experience communicating regulatory and compliance requirements to non-technical stakeholders

  • Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements

  • Advanced understanding of North American safety and compliance requirements for FDA regulated products

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree

  • Experience with Six Sigma

  • 7+ years of experience managing Safety and Compliance in a large-scale retail or manufacturing environment

  • Chemical or toxicology expertise

  • Claims integrity experience

  • Global experience is a plus

  • Exceptional organization skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
