Amazon Sr. Design Technologist, Advertising UX, Design Systems in Seattle, Washington

Description

Want to help designers and developers be more effective? We’re a collaborative team of UX designers, researchers, and front-end engineers who own the design system for Amazon Advertising, used by hundreds of Amazonians around the world to build experiences for advertising customers. As our founding Senior Design Technologist (DT), you’ll help us define and deliver tools that streamline design and research workflows, and improve the exchange between designers and engineers.

You’ll build and maintain new web and native-based applications, create services, and launch plugins for existing design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, and Framer). These solutions will require connections to 1P and 3P APIs/endpoints, clear documentation, and presentations to internal users. You’ll exercise your curiosity, creativity, and ownership. You’ll have a say in how we invest our time and energy. Your love of invention and experimentation will be key.

This role can be located in Seattle, WA

Key job responsibilities

• Actively participate in concept development and design ideation as part of a cross-functional team.

• Rapidly build and iterate on high quality, functional prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.

• Partner with engineers to ensure that innovative techniques and technologies translate into scalable tools and services.

• Partner with design, writers, and research to create realistic prototypes to test with end customers.

• Advance design thinking through your knowledge of platform capabilities and limitations as you support your design team and work with partner engineering teams.

• Lead large, wide impact DT projects. Examples could include a specific tool or service that supports many disparate areas of the site or product line.

• Lead others and set direction in the face of ambiguity.

• Evaluate and document any new creative and/or engineering standards or patterns that could arise from your work.

• Proactively mentor and develop other Designers and Design Technologists.

• Effectively present work to all levels of leadership.
