UW Video has an outstanding opportunity open for a Temporary Sports Video Engineer.

The Sports Video Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring all components of sporting event productions, live broadcast streams and all athletic engineering equipment used during events and broadcasts. The Sports Video Engineer develops the proper settings needed for running all athletic engineering equipment. They will also lead installs, upgrades, and updates to all production equipment.

Typical Responsibilities: 100% - install, maintain, and troubleshoot all video and audio components for athletic events

• Oversee and lead set-up and striking of video and audio components. • Shade cameras during events. • Patching for all events and athletic productions. • Troubleshooting all technical issues with sports production equipment including cameras, lenses, LED board control systems, graphics generators, fiber optic transmitters/receivers, video switchers, routers, intercoms, monitors, streaming encoders, patch panels, TCP/IP protocols, and Windows servers. • Act as the escalation point for all equipment and signal issues for sports production. • Technical mentoring and hands-on support during high-profile events. • Assist in occasional operation of video production equipment in live event environments. • Document equipment failures and engage equipment vendors for repairs. • Liaison with captioning service to ensure signal is received properly.

General Skills:

• Knowledge of video and audio signal to ensure quality control of in venue operations. • Knowledge of fiber optic and radio frequency video signal transmission systems. • Strong understanding of live sports production. • Ability to be resourceful, research equipment documentation and solutions to problems, and be proactive in systems issues prevention and resolution. • Ability to work and respectfully communicate with a diverse team. • Must be reliable and show up on time for scheduled call times. • Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

• A Bachelor Degree and 3 years of experience. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications. • Minimum 2 years of experience working with switchers, routers, mixers and graphics equipment. • Must have a current valid driver’s license. • Knowledge of Daktronics scoreboard video systems. • College athletics experience. • Live sports production experience.
