We are hiring an SDE for contributing to the Physical Stores Device management (DPM) team's charter.

About the team

The Deployment, Provisioning, and Management (DPM) team is responsible for systems that enable seamless device management across multiple Amazon's businesses. Our main responsibilities are device provisioning, application deployment, logging and metrics, device command's orchestration, and configuration-data management.

Device provisioning enables just-in-time registration and credential refreshing for secure runtime operations. Application deployment capabilities allow targeted rollouts and rollbacks on physical devices, ensuring efficient software lifecycle management on the edge. Logging and metrics systems empower our customers to seamlessly monitor and debug their devices while command orchestration workflows facilitate remote device management, enabling customers to send commands and maintain operational control. Additionally, we manage the configuration data systems that power the operational readiness and runtime operations of Just Walk Out (JWO) stores.

Key job responsibilities

Everyone on the team needs to be entrepreneurial, wear many hats and work in a highly collaborative environment that's more startup than a big company. As a Software Development Engineer, you will help solve a variety of technical challenges. You will play an active role in translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables and build quick prototypes or proofs of concept in partnership with other technology leaders within the team. You will help invent new features, design, develop and deploy reliable distributed services. You will work with a variety of core languages and technologies including Java, C++, GO and JavaScript

About the team

Physical Stores Security Software Development team is a cross-discipline team that owns services, technology and capabilities to secure physical stores at scale. We build security systems required to securely operate stores, IoT devices and novel devices like Amazon one, dash carts etc. We are looking for motivated engineers to build next generation IoT device Authentication & management systems, machine learning based anomaly detection models, infrastructure Security monitoring service, certificate authorities, high throughput data analysis engines etc. Innovation is part of our DNA! Our goal is to be Earths' most customer centric company, and we are just getting started.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
