Blue Origin LLC SLD Senior System Design, Assembly, and Test Lead - Crew and Life Support System in Seattle, Washington

Lunar Permanence: This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As the System Design, Assembly, and Test (SDAT) Lead for the Crew and Life Support Systems Integrated Product Team (CLSS IPT), you will lead a diverse and cross-functional team responsible for the integration of design, integrated testing, and vehicle assembly for all subassemblies and components within the CLSS IPT. You will work closely with counterparts in the Blue Origin Operations organization to integrate CLSS design, test, procurement, and production plans into the overall vehicle and company-level plans and facilities. The SDAT Lead has accountability to the CLSS IPT Lead for scope, budget and schedule for the configuration, assembly, and integrated test of CLSS subassemblies and components. You will be accountable for driving strategy, process, and priority for the subassembly and component production efforts, monitoring performance and meeting cost and schedule commitments. You will assess and drive compliance to the standards and processes for design, standard parts, configuration control, and packaging of CLSS subassemblies and components. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Manage and flow down standards and processes for design, standard parts, configuration control, Design for X, packaging, and interface control to the entire CLSS IPT Working closely with Blue Origin Operations (including Manufacturing Leads, Integrated Supply Chain, Production Technician Leads, and Production Support Engineering), Quality, and Lunar Integration & Test, build and manage the plan for production and test of CLSS subassemblies and components through vehicle integration and integrated test, including make/buy planning, vertical integration planning, input into manufacturing and test facilities and vendor selection, demand planning, and production schedule Coordinate between Operations, Lunar Integration & Test, and CLSS teams to ensure standards, processes, schedules, budgets, and personnel assignments are aligned Travel as needed to production, test, and integration locations Minimum Qualifications 8+ years of relevant industry experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, or maintenance B.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering; physics; or other major requiring engineering or manufacturing core courses Experience with the design, assembly, operations, and maintenance of a vehicle or similar system involving the integration of multiple electrical and/or mechanical subsystems Knowledge of systems engineering practices, fabrication, integration processes, quality, and configuration management systems Experience with planning, scheduling tools, Basis of Estimate, Work Breakdown Structure, Integrated Master Schedule, Critical Path Analysis, Material Resource Planning, Enterprise Resource Planning, Earned Value Management Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to earn trust and build positive, professional, and inclusive relationships Passionate about space exploration and a future with millions of people living and working in space Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
