Language/Compiler Engineer

Position Summary

This position will be part of a team working on a new compiler and necessary libraries and runtime support, designed to meet a challenging mix of speed and space constraints arising in business-critical production settings. The position is expected to have a broad knowledge of compilers, interpreters and their associated runtime support.Specific skills of interest include type checkers, functional programming, managed language runtimes and dynamic languages.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work as part of the compiler team, including analyzing and improving the compiler quality and performance
• Implement tools such as linters, typecheckers
• Stay abreast of latest developments in compilation/PL

• Contribute to the development of compiler documentation and user guides

   

Qualifications

• MS/PhDin PL/Compilers highly desirable
• Broad knowledge of compilers, interpreters, and their associated runtime support.
• Proficiency in a variety of development styles and languages, both static and dynamic
• Expertise in as many as possible of the following: functional programming, type checker implementation, managed language runtimes, dynamic languages
• Strong design and analytical skills
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Strong background in software engineering principles with a focus on crafting robust and maintainable solutions to challenging problems

• Good communication and documentation skills

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $151,477.00 - $227,215.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5s differing products, industries, and lines of business.
