UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a SENIOR APPLICATIONS ADMINISTRATOR position.

PLEASE NOTE: This position is open to current UW Medicine IT Services employees only. WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday

  • Required participation in team on call schedule POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gathering and analyzing customer business and technical requirements and complex issues, recommending solutions.

  • Designing, building, and implementing large scale enhancements to meet functional requirements, performing the role of technical lead on project teams.

  • Providing production support for escalated issues/tickets and ongoing system troubleshooting, maintenance, monitoring, and training.

  • Managing intermediate scale projects, processes, and documentation to support customer needs.

  • Cross-training and mentoring team members. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Neighborhood Clinics (UWNC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). In addition, UW Medicine shares in the ownership and governance of Children’s University Medical Group and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (a partnership between UW Medicine, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research, and Seattle Children’s). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You are responsible for performance design and escalation.

  • You perform large scale builds.

  • You work with application vendors to gather system requirements for new system.

  • You perform the role of technical lead on projects.

  • You lead small to intermediate scale group projects and prioritize tasks.

  • You plan, develop, and present new process improvements.

  • You perform standard requirements gathering.

  • You document complex systems.

  • You ensure the availability of ancillary applications in Test and Production environments.

  • You design test environments. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • 6+ years’ experience must include the following:

  • 5+ years providing systems application maintenance/support.

  • Exemplary customer service orientation with experience building relationships, setting expectations, and collaborating across groups to ensure customers receive top quality service.

  • 5+ year experience with application/system configuration and implementation of clinical information systems (and/or healthcare applications).

  • Advanced experience defining customer requirements, translating them into design specifications for intermediate to large scale projects.

  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and training team members and sharing knowledge.

  • Proficiency with desktop computers and Office applications.

  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle.

  • Extensive experience supporting small and large scale enterprise customers, both internal and external.

  • Extensive experience walking clients through the use of systems in a healthcare environment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
