Global Diving & Salvage ROV Technician - Seattle, WA in Seattle, Washington

Position Description

The ROV Technician is responsible for providing operational and safety support to the Marine Technology group, including ROV piloting services, as well as maintaining the ROV fleet in proper working order.

Position Essential Job Functions

General Duties:

  • Operate and maintain a variety of remote-operated vehicles in both inland and offshore environments.
  • Participate in ROV mobilizations and demobilizations. 
  • Monitor and report on ROV system technical performance.
  • Perform routine planned and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on Global's ROV fleet and ancillary systems in all regions, including vehicles manufactured by Saab Seaeye, BENTHOS, DeepTekker, VideoRay and Enuktun, and ancillary equipment, including sonar, camera, video, UT, CP, manipulator, rigging, tether, and tether management systems.
  • Attend project meetings as required, including safety briefings to clients, vessel crew, and the Marine Technology team.
  • Understand emergency response procedures and specific responsibilities in the unlikely event of an emergency.
  • Ensure all work activities undertaken are carried out safely and in accordance with company policies and standards.
  • Report all potential risks, hazard observations, incidents, and near misses to the site supervisor or HSE Manager as required by company procedures.
  • And other duties as required.

ROV Administration:

  • Work with Global Diving and Salvage engineers and managers to update technical specifications and drawings based on modifications and upgrades to the ROV fleet.
  • Reviewing manufacturers' manuals, identifying appropriate replacement parts when needed, and requesting quotes to support purchase orders.
  • Ensure all technical, operational, maintenance, and safety documentation is complete and updated as changes are made.
  • Complete all project documentation, including timesheets, job-related logs, and safety meeting forms.
  • Provide constructive recommendations to improve workplace and operation efficiency when applicable.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School diploma (required)
  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree in marine technologies. Marine, Hydrography, Robotics, or other related technical disciplines.

Experience

3+ years of experience providing ROV system maintenance and technical support, including ancillary equipment integration, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and fiber optics. (required)

3+ years of experience piloting inspection and light work ROVs, including the use of manipulators, sonar, camera and video systems, lighting, and other standard ROV functions. (preferred)

Experience using acoustic navigation systems and navigation software.

Experience logging and processing 2D and 3D sonar data, processing and editing HD Video. 

Experience with tether management systems, winches, and ancillary ROV equipment.

Experience with basic seamanship for small craft and vessels of opportunity.
