UW Medical Center-Northwest - Emergency Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Educator .

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full time / 100% FTE

  • Day shifts, Monday-Friday ABOUT OUR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

  • We are a 22-bed Level IV Trauma Center

  • We provide specialized treatment for cardiac, trauma, and stroke patients

  • We have been recognized for providing one of the fastest times to treatment for cardiac patients in the Seattle region

  • Serve in a highly visible leadership role

  • Be part of a unique position that serves as an educator, a facilitator, a leader, and a consultant in emergency medicine

  • Train the next generation of clinical staff

  • Play hands-on role in quality assurance and improvement PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the quality of care in our Emergency Department

  • Plans and hosts education services for RNs, MAs, and Unit Secretaries; this includes residency programs, preceptorships, and continuing education courses

  • Develops skill assessment tools and competency documentation tools

  • Coordinates skill verification programs

  • Mentors and assists new employees to assimilate successfully into the workforce

  • Serves as the in-house training expert and liaison representing Emergency Services on committees and multidisciplinary teams

  • Identifies quality benchmarks, assesses departmental performance, and designs improvement plans

  • Assures staff compliance with hospital policy and regulations

  • Anticipates and forecasts educational needs

  • Monitors trends in the healthcare industry and incorporates new developments into our programs

  • Facilitates continuous learning and development

  • Models Patients are First and service culture guidelines REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

  • 2 years of Emergency Department RN work experience

  • 4 years of clinical RN work experience in a hospital setting

  • 2 years of experience in education/teaching, either in an educational setting or a hospital

  • Knowledge of adult teaching and learning principles

  • Knowledge of program development and program coordination

  • Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State (required by start date)
