$10,000 Signing Bonus to eligible new employees joining UW Medicine Harborview Medical Center’s (HMC) Edward Thomas House Medical Respite at Jefferson Terrace has an outstanding opportunity for part-time Registered Nurse (RN). WORK SCHEDULE: • Part-time, 60% FTE, 24 hours per week • Day shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Harborview’s Edward Thomas House Medical Respite at Jefferson Terrace , is a collaborative project among six area hospitals and Health Care for the Homeless Network. The program provides nursing care 16 hours per day and non-clinical care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Nurses provide up to twice daily care for acute issues, as well as IV infusion and complicated wound care. Mental health clinicians complete a psychosocial screening to assess housing, mental health and funding needs. This is a 34 bed medical shelter with a harm reduction approach to care.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Utilize nursing process in the delivery of patient care in accordance with established standards of nursing practice, and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. • Document patient care in a manner that reflects recognition of the legal significance of an accurate and complete nursing record utilizing EMR (electronic medical record). • Incorporate discharge planning into nursing care and refer to community services for appropriate patients. • Perform procedures with scope of licensure and assist during procedures done by health care professionals • Act as liaison between provider and patient in clinical case management and follow-ups from visit. • Monitor and facilitate patient flow in the clinic, working collaboratively with other clinical staff.

REQUIREMENTS: • Washington State or Multi-State RN license required by start date. • Two years of RN nursing experience and familiar working with people who are homeless. • Commitment to ensuring equity, inclusion and diversity in healthcare delivery, team support and process improvement initiatives.
