Amazon Principal - HR Program Management, AWS Builder Experience Listening and Solutions in Seattle, Washington

Description

The position can be based in beautiful Seattle, WA or Amazon's amazing new headquarters (HQ2) in Arlington, VA. This is a hybrid role (3 days a week in the office) because we believe it is easier to learn, model, practice, and strengthen our culture when we're in the office surrounded by our colleagues.

The AWS Builder Experience Listening and Solutions (BELS) team is looking for an ambitious leader to drive our builder experience solutions agenda! In 2021, Amazon established a new leadership principle, "Strive to become Earth's Best Employer." This role will be instrumental in taking that idea and moving it into action for the particular needs of AWS employees (known as builders).

The Principal Program Manager will work with business and Human Resources leaders to identify opportunities to improve builder experience. They will develop simple ways for leaders to find solutions to these opportunities, either existing or new. This aspect of the role drives high ownership, identifies where we can be frugal, and builds trust across AWS teams to maximize the lived experience for builders. Additionally, they will also drive a portfolio of exploratory projects owned by the BELS team itself. These will arise from working back from builder feedback. The team frequently presents strategy and progress to AWS senior leadership.

Key job responsibilities

Program Management - Instill best practices into the BELS program and local builder experience efforts across multiple business units and geographies. Identify opportunities to collaborate and coordinate across silos to optimize the impact on builders.

Project Management – Develop and maintain project plans, identify resource needs, and manage project schedules for the initiatives started by the BELS program team. Collaborate effectively across teams to define strategy, goals, and commitment to timelines and deliverables.

Deliver Solutions – Partner with BELS program leadership to design and implement new or modified solutions to meet builder experience needs; partner with PXT and Business teams on gap analysis, design, and prioritization of critical strategic components.

Support Local Solutions - Build best practice processes and guidelines that provide local builder teams with tools to implement and execute their own builder experience efforts. Generalize learnings from local successes to help scale the impact of positive builder experience interventions.

Measurement - Identify measures to define project progress and measure project impact; confirm return on investment and establish ongoing quality metrics.

Program Governance - Maintain the cadence of business reviews and the Operational Planning process.

Subject Matter Expertise – Develop deep knowledge of builder experience efforts and core builder journeys; provide insights, experience design best practices, and connect builders working on the same issues or problems.

Communication - Own communications (including document writing) to project members and stakeholders on progress, issues, risks, regular status updates, and various white paper analyses.
