UW MEDICINE IT SERVICES has an outstanding job opportunity for a LEAD, EPIC COGITO - BUSINESS position.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

  • Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 07:00 – 16:00 (PST), Monday-Friday POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Supporting the direction and priorities of the Manager by coordinating and overseeing the following operational activities and system maintenance, ensuring standard services are meeting appropriate targets:• Identify business and technical impacts of user requirements and articulate to all constituents.• Assume responsibility for the quality and delivery of technology business solutions.• Assist in development of ad hoc queries, data sources, reports, dashboards, and extracts to support the business.

  • Prioritizing and distributing the workload throughout the team, managing the day-to-day workflow, and reporting to the manager the status of work assignments.

  • Providing a point of escalation for operational and other service issues.

  • Identifying and proposing service management improvements.

  • Providing advice, coaching, and mentorship to team on work techniques, best practices, and operational expertise.

  • Serving as the manager’s delegate to represent the team to customers, project managers, technical leadership, and organizational management. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS) is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

    PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You oversee the operational activities of the team.

  • You develop and maintain strong team processes and capabilities through the enhancement, deployment, and maintenance of methods, metrics, tools, training, education, and communication.

  • You create, advise, and ensure operational processes and procedures are in place and documented for the stability and reliability.

  • You capture and report on teamwork assignments reflecting status, priority, capacity, and utilization.

  • You maintain a high level of awareness of the current and future technologies and best practices and fully understand the various organizational structures of UW Medicine and their unique requirements, utilizing and assisting leadership in communicating these best practices.

  • You coordinate with Business Analysts, Data Architects, Structured Quality Language (SQL) Administrators, Data Warehouse Administrators, and others to understand and document technical requirements, capabilities, and limitations.

  • You mentor team members in technical and departmental knowledge, practices, processes, and procedures.

  • You guide customers and other staff in best practices, technical trends, and valuable resources.

  • You prioritize tasks for a team of Developers.

  • You research questions and issues involving Production Analytics solutions. LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES The Lead is responsible for organizing and overseeing the operational activities for the Epic Cogito team of 14 FTE technology professionals.

  • You make assignments and distribute workload, manage the day-to-day workflow within the defined team, lead team meetings and huddles, and report to manager regarding completion of workflow.

  • You coordinate implementation and oversee the work of a group assigned to a specific project, including identification of assignments and responsibility, establishing work deadlines for project team members, and coordinating completion of activities.

  • You act as a liaison to customers and project managers and represent the team to management.

  • You mentor team members on techniques, best practices, and operational expertise.

  • Though the Lead has no formal human resources responsibilities, you may:• Provide feedback to the manager on work-related issues, including those that might lead to corrective action.• Provide feedback to the manager on recruiting, hiring, and performance evaluation (i.e., gather customer feedback, draft evaluation, and attend review meetings with the manager and co-workers).

  • You act as the primary contact for issue escalation and engage team members in conflict resolution.

  • You vet purchases on behalf of the team.

  • You collaborate with other leads, supervisors, and managers to coordinate services and negotiate operating level agreements.

  • You may backfill the manager’s role on an interim basis for when a manager is out of the office for a planned or unplanned event. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, Math, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent combination of experience/education.

  • 6 years’ experience must include the following:

  • 6+ years of recent healthcare or IT experience.

  • 6+ years' experience with programming tools including SQL, BI platform tools, and Cogito reporting tools such as Reporting Workbench, Radar Dashboards, and SlicerDicer.

  • 6+ years' experience with the full Epic Cogito stack.

  • 1+ year(s) of experience with formal mentorship.

  • Advanced experience and the ability to lead a team through the complete software development lifecycle for analytics solutions including reports and applications, or interfaces. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is an Information Technology deadline-driven work environment.

  • The individual in this position is expected to work normal daytime hours. The work may be performed in either an office environment or by telecommuting with manager approval, during normal business hours; however, significant off-hours and weekends may be needed to resolve problems and respond to emergencies. This individual is expected to be available for emergencies (business continuity/disaster recovery efforts) on a 24x7 basis as needed.

  • Must coordinate projects without direct supervisory authority.

  • Must work within the constraints of multiple technical environments.

  • The individual in this position must learn many organizational structures and cultures and continually foster collaboration.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
