University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for an Infection Preventionist. WORK SCHEDULE

  • Full time, day shift

  • Hybrid – in office 2-3 days/week DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Infection Prevention and Control Program is under the Center for Clinical Excellence. Its mission is to ensure the health and safety of patients, staff, volunteers, students, and visitors. This is accomplished by surveillance measures, interdepartmental and multidisciplinary involvement, and implementation of best practices of local and national guidelines. POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Work with staff across a broad range of specialties at an award-winning academic medical center

  • Collaborate as part of a dynamic, respected team of IP professionals PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a key member of the Infection Prevention Committees

  • Provide clinical consultation

  • Collaborate with leadership, faculty and staff in the development and implementation of care standards, policies, guidelines and protocols.

  • As a staff resource, provide educational opportunities such as new protocol education, specialty specific education and skills reinforcement education.

  • Perform surveillance for hospital associated infections

  • Infection control risk assessments for construction related activities

  • Conduct outbreak investigations as needed REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare, Epidemiology, Industrial Hygiene, Nursing or other related degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • Four years of relevant clinical healthcare experience. Registered Nurses must have acute care hospital experience (inpatient, ICU, or emergency medicine)

  • Applicants who are not Infection Preventionists must have 2 years experience leading and educating teams (program management)

  • Certified in Infection Control and Epidemiology or Industrial Hygiene or will become certified within three years of hire
