Prime Air is seeking an experienced Hardware Development Engineer responsible for supporting testing and verification of hardware and the design and development of assigned avionics products. The candidate should be capable of delivering high quality analyses and test expertise to enable the build and test of hardware including prototypes, engineering validation hardware, verification hardware, as well as the generation of bring up test procedures, support of DO-160 environmental test procedures & reports.

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

Key job responsibilities

Verification testing, systems level testing and validation of requirements.

Working cross functionally with hardware, software, and test teams to achieve hardware qualification.

Reliability modeling and testing.

Support design activity including providing early analysis using FEA techniques.

Key job responsibilities

· Lead and assist with Systems and Component Level verification

· Generate detailed designs with 3D CAD assemblies/components and 2D drawings as deliverables.

· Conduct static, dynamic, modal structural and thermal analysis as needed to support design work.

· Deliver efficient designs capable of high volume production throughput (DFM, DFA).

· Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews.

· Design and support test campaigns, both development and qualification/acceptance, for avionics hardware

  • Develops systems engineering artifacts including design documentation, interface control documents, requirements

  • Documentation and presentation of materials for technical design reviews.

  • Documentation for test campaigns such as test plans, procedures and test cases

About the team

This role will integrate closely with internal partners on the electrical, software teams and flight control teams to develop the best system solutions. This position will require collaboration with various teams across the Prime Air organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience

  • Experience with prototyping and implementation

  • Develops systems engineering artifacts including design documentation, interface control documents, requirements

  • Performs subsystem integration work, including testing component level and architectural systems requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools

  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume

  • FEA and Reliability analysis

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
