Amazon Front End Engineer II, People eXperience and Technology (PXT) Central Science in Seattle, Washington

The Central Science Team within Amazon’s People Experience and Technology org (PXTCS) uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements which simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, well-being, and the value of work to Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team, which combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.

We are looking for an exceptional front-end developer to help build reusable content layouts that can delight our customers. Product development in Prime is a complex and global process. Some of the steps involved in getting a product from inception to the customer include Product design, scaled solutions for global use cases and in-house testing before rollout to our customers.

Finally, since this is a WW platform, the unique international requirements add another layer of complexity. These different workflows involve complex sub-tasks and interactions with different retail systems, making this a truly complex and challenging capability with deep tentacles across many systems. The goal of this effort is to improve speed, drastically reduce the time to market, and enhance productivity across the entire product development process. You will work with WW stakeholders to define requirements and gain alignment to deliver a seamless product experience.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive the development of front-end applications that deliver a best-in-class user experience.

  • Partner with product and design to build highly responsive, intuitive, and sleek experiences that will delight customers and set a high bar for all web applications.

  • Know the nuances, pitfalls, strengths, and associated best practices of the various web application paradigms (single-page apps, MVC apps, static site generators, etc.).

  • Be committed to building scalable, maintainable architectures, and to writing clean, readable code.

Successful candidates for this position will have a strong background in building and managing full-stack web applications, leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud computing infrastructure. You will be creating distributed systems and platforms to transform and model data, to aid research all aspects of HR, including: workforce planning, recruiting, employee engagement, retention, development, employee benefits, and compensation. You have the ability to adapt quickly to new development environments, changing business requirements, learn new systems, gain new skills, create reliable & maintainable code, and find creative, scalable solutions to difficult problems. You believe in agile development and quick prototypes, and you strive to see your work in action.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional front end, web or mobile software development using JavaScript, HTML and CSS experience

  • 1+ years of computer science fundamentals (object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis) experience

  • Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as angular and react

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of agile software development methodology experience

  • Experience with common front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JS, TypeScript, and Node

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
