This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth's orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space. As part of a small, hard-working, and accomplished team of experts you will lead the design, develop, and test of fluid systems for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of fluid systems design, operation, and project management. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. Responsibilities: Engage in the entire design cycle of fluid subsystems including conceptual design, thermo-fluid modeling, structural layout and analysis, integration, test and mission support Collaborate with many internal team members to define requirements, dependencies, and schedule needs associated with delivering coordinated fluid systems Lead team-based identification, decomposition, and estimation of work scope for full lifecycle fluids hardware development Manage project schedule, resources, and cost - present status of effort, including risks, variances, and recovery plans to program management Integrate hardware schedules with program and vehicle schedules Work to continuously improve the team processes and manage team assignments to move quickly while meeting human space flight standards Continuously track all hardware technical performance measures to ensure the development team is meeting its defined performance goals Perform procurement, integration support, and discrepancy resolution Coordinate fluid component and subsystem level testing including test planning, test execution, data reduction, and analysis Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 4+ years of proven experience in detail design / development of aerospace or equivalent-type fluid systems and project management through complete product life cycle Responsible Engineer designation to manage a system with multiple designers working under their direction Strong knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, and fittings Knowledge of fabrication, integration processes and quality control relative to tubes/piping and machined components Working knowledge of materials and treatments Experience leading at multi-person development project, managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, cost, and communications Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs Working knowledge of component design such as valves, actuators, mechanisms, bellows, tubes, latches and pressurized components, aerospace hardware Experience with pneumatic fluids systems and component design Working knowledge of fabrication, integration processes, and quality control techniques relative to tubes, machined components, and welded hardware Experience with stack-ups, linear and radial and types of fits Experience with static and dynamic seals and spring seal design Experience with hydraulic fluid systems and component design Experience with pneumatic fluids systems and component design Working knowledge of aerospace materials a
