This role will contribute to Starbucks’ ongoing success by influencing and driving priorities, building partnership, and aligning cross-functional efforts to create safe and relevant innovation at speed across the Enterprise, assuring that Starbucks will continually deliver innovation that partners and customers trust.

In addition to leading a team of partners, this director is responsible for driving robust safety and quality planning and innovation strategies, driving systems and optimization work that create data insights from conventional and unconventional sources, and leading Global Product Safety and Quality (GPSQ) programs and standard creation, including in the areas of training, audit program oversight, and health department partnerships.

This role will directly liaise with all GPSQ teams, Partner and Customer Solutions, Starbucks Data Analytics teams, Starbucks Technology teams, Operations Services, Product, and Enterprise Integration to continuously drive safe and quality innovation in service of the overarching Mission, Vision, and Purpose of Starbucks and the GPSQ function.

This director will also contribute to the development of the global vision and strategy for GPSQ at Starbucks; always modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

As a director, GPSQ Integration , your responsibilities will be...

Leadership

  • Refine and advance the retail food safety and public health strategic framework within current Global Supply Chain and Enterprise plan; focus limited resources on the most pressing priorities and assure mutual effort is invested from cross-functional partners upon which the priorities depend

  • Enable delivery of safe and effective Enterprise innovation by driving new partnership across GPSQ teams, Partner and Customer Solutions, Starbucks Data Analytics teams, Starbucks Technology teams, Operations Services, Product, and Enterprise Integration with particular focus on food safety and public health at the retail store level

  • Cocreate internal stage gate processes that represent all areas of GPSQ and integrate them with cross-functional and enterprise stage gate processes to ensure successful and timely launch of new products and equipment

  • Define standards spanning sanitation, cleaning, production, deployment, partner hygiene, and training disciplines, among others, to deliver the RFSPH strategy and enable ongoing enterprise growth while assuring customer trust and top-tier credibility with pertinent regulators

  • Elevate the voice of the customer through new data insights and analytical approaches by leveraging vast amounts of retail food safety and public health data

  • Set stretch goals for the work group, develop organizational capability, and model best-in-class teamwork, team spirit, and accountability

  • Provideleadershipindevelopingandcommunicatingprogress, risk, and performance to all layers of the enterprise

  • Be a passionate advocate for organizational learning, partner development, operational excellence, innovation, and progress

Planning and Execution

  • Develop strategic plans & budget for the work group, manage execution, and measure resultsDevelop KPIs to track progress and accountability; embed those KPIs cross-functionally such that they become a cultural component of normal operationPlanandmanagebusinessunitor departmentprocessesandpracticesto ensurethatprogramsarealignedwith company business goals andobjectives

We’d love to hear from people with:

Education, Scientific degree (food safety, microbiology, environmental health, food science, engineering, etc.), Bachelors level minimum

Skills:

o Food Safety & Public Health Expertise, Knowledge of Best Practices

o Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes

o Relevant U.S., CAN & LAC/Regional Food Code awareness, Public Health Regulations, Incident / Outbreak Management & Prevention

o Leadership and Influencing skills

o Ability to inspire & motivate others

Years of experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills (minimum needed to be qualified):

  • Proven food safety and public health expertise across U.S. food regulations (+ CAN preferred) – 5 yrs min

  • Outstanding leadership & track record of achievements; passion for developing high-performing teams – 10 years

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced scientific, food safety, or public health degree

  • Food Safety certifications / credentials (RS, REHS, PCQI, Food handler, etc.)

Job Scope

  • Partners Directly Managed: Up to 10

  • Partners Indirectly Managed: Up to 20

  • Estimated Travel Required: Up to 20% during onboarding, then only as needed

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
