UW Medicine Supply Chain Management and Strategic Sourcing has an outstanding opportunity for a CONTRACT SPECIALIST .

WORK SCHEDULE

  • 100% FTE, Days

  • Mondays - Fridays

  • Hybrid, 1 day a week onsite POSITION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Serve as the institutional Information Technology (IT) Strategic Sourcing authority providing guidance, contract management and analysis work to the departments within UW Medicine

  • Conduct financial analysis using Supply Chain tools and processes to make data-driven recommendations and manage diverse purchases in a dynamic environment while protecting UW Medicine’s interests.

  • Coordinates UW Medicine policy, IT and strategic direction in association with other units whose interests and expertise are crucial to successful resolution of our mission. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine Supply Chain’s objective is to ensure our patient care experience is enhanced by delivering a robust foundation of services, operational and technical support, and the sharing of comprehensive, relevant, and highly specialized supply chain management expertise. This includes a primary focus on customer service, as well as maintaining appropriate levels of general, medical, and surgical supplies throughout each facility. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as liaison with other Procurement staff, internal customers, and the supplier to finalize and renew agreements.

  • Regularly review contract spend analytics and communicate with supplier and customers

  • Participate in resource planning, assessing and prioritizing requirements for complex programs including issues of emerging technology advances in surgical and clinical equipment, contracting, consignments, patient safety, and the use of the internet for procurement and contracting transactions.

  • Identify best practices for conducting major contracts in a cost effective and expeditious manner, while managing risk issues and ensuring compliance with external rules and regulations.

  • Monitor changes, updates, and other policy issues stemming from UW Medicine and entity specific Councils/Committees, Patient Safety Committees, Product Evaluation Committees, Supply Chain Committees and other sources.

  • Solicit vendor response by approved, procedural methods for specific competitive contracts; selecting the appropriate method, i.e. Request for Information, Requests for Proposal, telephone quotation, Request for Quotation, Request for Bid; Request for Qualification and Quotation, direct negotiation; fully and completely document the reasons for process selection.

  • Develop and draft contracts that are compliant with UW Medicine Medical Centers, University of Washington and State of Washington rules and regulations and mitigate risks.

  • Conduct financial & Risk analysis to meet departmental needs by utilizing Supply Chain tools and processes to make data-driven recommendations for creating contracts and increase UW Medicine’s contract-covered spend.

  • Partner with departments to promote utilization of established IT contracts and efficient use of procurement systems.

  • Make priority application and assignment to requests for purchases, contracts, and agreements.

  • Advise clients of existing or potential policies and/or procedures that may effect their requisitions.

  • Make regularly assigned visitations or participating as required in departmental presentations aimed at increasing communication/education goals.

  • Survey and analyze procedures and Strategic Sourcing processes; prepare findings, report and recommend improvements to management. REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in a healthcare IT, supply chain management or other quantitative field.

  • Three (3) years of experience in procurement and contracting activities in support of a healthcare organization, preferably in the public sector, especially in a research/teaching setting.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and items used in a hospital. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the stated requirements.
