Amazon Business Intel Engineer II, Global Quality in Seattle, Washington

The Global Quality Team within the larger Amazon Stores – Customer Service (ASCS) organization is looking for a talented, motivated, experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to generate insights that will guide operational excellence and product development to improve the overall customer experience provided by our contact centers.

Data analysis is at the core of Amazon’s culture, and your work will have a direct impact on decision making and strategy for our team. You will be gathering and sharing insights from mining data, making recommendations, and helping leaders across our organization make key business decisions. You will have the opportunity to work with a large and complex data warehouse to gather insights using data from across Amazon. These efforts will change the way we support our regional/global Quality teams and ultimately will assist with developing solutions to delight customers, and improving customer experience at an Amazon scale.

We are looking for someone with a broad technical background in data analytics, strong business acumen, takes ownership of their work, and is focused on working together to support customer needs. The successful candidate will communicate crisply in non-technical terms to senior management. The candidate will have the ability to make data-driven conclusions and will be comfortable with ambiguity while working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. The candidate will also need to be a collaborator who can work with multiple internal teams to define and implement solutions that will yield benefits and earn trust to Amazon customers around the world.

Key job responsibilities

Build a data structure and reporting process by working through various business parameters, which establish truth in data.

Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to help make key business conclusions.

Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting, analysis, and research (data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation).

Update existing and create new metrics and reporting that help drive business conclusions, continually improving reporting and analysis processes.

Be able to effectively communicate findings and build reporting for an audience with limited technical background.

Understand the business obstacles and identify data backed business insights with effective presentation of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders.

Design and conduct experiments on the effectiveness and efficiency of different initiatives to improve key output metrics and help shape the long-term strategy.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience

  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools

  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

  • Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab

  • Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift

  • Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $79,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
