Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for an Out of Production (OOP) Deputy Chief Program Engineer to join its team in Seal Beach, CA.

The Out of Production (OOP) Deputy Chief Program Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing all design changes on OOP airplanes. They are a technical expert and offer consultation and collaboration with Design Engineering, Pilots, Maintenance Engineering, and other relevant parties. The OOP Deputy Chief Program Engineer is also responsible for ensuring product integrity and safety of OOP airplanes. They address and provide guidance on potential airplane safety concerns and approve mitigating actions for safety, regulatory and economic issues. The Deputy Chief Program Engineer is also responsible for leading formal design reviews and adjudication across disciplines for OOP airplanes. They also communicate with the FAA regarding certification activities for the OOP airplanes.

Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience including; (Level 4 or Level 5) Subject Matter Experts

Position Responsibilities:

  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify a lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions

  • Evaluates customer and /operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces

  • Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture

  • Performs analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success

  • Develops the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes

  • Resolves cross-functional technical issues

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite in Seal Beach, CA.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 7+ years’ of related work experience

  • 3+ years of experience leading or managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects or teams

  • Experience with airplane safety and certification processes

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 12 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Current or former Engineering Unit Member

  • E-UM Cert knowledge

  • Familiarity with the Boeing Safety Process

Typical Education/Experience:

  • (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

  • (Level 5): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary Pay Range for Subject Matter Expert (Level 4): $122,400 - $165,600

Summary Pay Range for Subject Matter Expert (Level 5): $150,450 - $203,550
