DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform various semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment at the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center. Some of the duties of this position include general carpentry, repairing and installing items to keep buildings updated, plumbing, masonry work, and operating a variety of equipment and machinery. In addition, you will ensure the safety of the outdoor grounds by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, as well as maintaining the grass by utilizing lawn care equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to put your trades and maintenance skills to use, while supporting a facility that cares for some of our state's most vulnerable residents.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment (7.50 hours/day; 37.5 hours/week) Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Additional Requirement: You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
