The Department of General Services is looking for a motivated Custodial Worker to join our team at our Scranton State Office Building. DESCRIPTION OF WORK This Custodial Worker 1 position involves sweeping and mopping restroom floors as well as washing and cleaning all restroom furnishings to include mirrors, toilets, urinals, partitions, walls, and sinks. You must ensure that adequate amounts of restroom supplies are available for use and provide replenishment as needed. Any discrepancies, such as burnt-out or blinking light bulbs, plumbing leaks, or clogged drains should be reported to the immediate supervisor.

General cleaning and dusting are completed on office furnishings, office equipment, and file cabinets in addition to polishing furniture items, such as chairs, desks, conference tables, and bookshelves. You will operate pallet jacks and dollies to move furniture and materials from one area to another as well as utilize a commercial heavy-duty scrub machine (buffer) to clean and buff floors.  Snow and ice removal is required from building entrances, exits, sidewalks, driveways, and stairways as well as distribution of deicing materials where needed. You will also have the opportunity to assist maintenance personnel in the performance of their respective duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is considered essential, you will be required to report in-office during emergencies and office closings.
