Caliber The Wealth Development Company Portfolio Management Analyst – Debt/Asset Management in Scottsdale, Arizona

Caliber is seeking a full-time Portfolio Management Analyst – Debt/Asset Management to join our team locally in Scottsdale, AZ.

The Portfolio Management Analyst works closely with the VP of Finance and Portfolio Managers to develop, execute, and manage debt-related strategies for commercial real estate investments across all of Caliber’s platforms. The position is ideally suited for a highly motivated, detail orientated individual with a strong work ethic. The individual should have the desire to be part of the growth of an expanding company, and work within a small team of other highly motivated individuals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with underwriting and managing a portfolio of commercial mortgages on active investments.

  • Ongoing monitoring of debt covenant compliance.

  • Responsible for timely and accurate lender financial reporting.

  • Evaluate new loan requests in conjunction with Portfolio Managers and VP of Finance.

  • Create financing request packages for new loans.

  • Assist with the loan renewal process.

  • Participation in lender and JV partner calls.

  • Perform research and analysis of market data.

  • Maintain current, real-time Argus and Excel files for all active investments.

  • Assist in creation and maintenance of critical portfolio tracking tools and models.

  • Track leasing, tenant improvement, capex actual v. budget to ensure projections and loan terms are being met/exceeded.

  • Work with accounting and asset management to ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly reporting.

  • Abstract loans agreements to identify key provisions and dates.

  • Actively participate in the due diligence process for acquisitions, dispositions, and recapitalizations.

  • Perform other projects as needed.

    Qualifications (required unless otherwise stated):

  • Bachelor's degree required; Real Estate, Finance, or Business degree preferred.

  • 1-3 years of commercial real estate lending, brokerage or valuation advisory experience, with an emphasis on project level underwriting and debt preferred. Previous experience working for a bank, private/public REIT, or private equity fund is a plus.

  • Knowledge of real estate debt and equity structures.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Highly motivated and results driven.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex financial concepts.

  • Effective time management and careful attention to detail a must.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Team focused with proven ability to also work independently.

  • General computer proficiency with a strong working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint, as well as advanced financial modeling skills in Microsoft Excel and Argus; experience with Sage a plus.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use best judgement to work through challenges 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure 

  • Ability to adapt to processes and deal with ambiguity 

  • Clear, effective oral and written communication skills are required, must be careful listener and clear communicator.

    Physical Demands:

    This job operates in a professional office environment with occasional travel. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The employee frequently communicates with internal team members, investors, and vendors. This role must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. This role constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and printer and occasionally moves items up to 50 lbs. for various projects.
