Avera Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Scotland, South Dakota

Job Summary

  • Assumes the responsibility for the provision of care and medical management of patients in the emergency department and/or hospital under the direction and supervision of a physician. Nurse Practitioners practice under the rules and regulations of the Nurse Practice Act of the state in which they work. Physician Assistants practice under the rules and regulations for Physician Assistants in the state in which they work.

Education and/or Experience

  • Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program required. Nurse Practitioner is required to have a Master's or doctorate degree.

  • OR

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program required.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS

  • An active CNP license is required.

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of Multi-state licensure required.

  • ​​​​​​​OR

  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant and ability to practice in the state of South Dakota required. National Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required

  • AND

  • Federal and State DEA certification is required for South Dakota employees.

Work Schedule

  • Emergency Department/Hospitalist On-Call 1:4 weekend rotation. Weekend starts at 1700 on Friday and goes through 0800 on Monday.

  • On call holiday rotation
