Responsibilities Responsible for the administration, safe operation, custody, and maintenance of the self-help program within the auto crafts center. Provides technical assistant/training to patrons in the performance of self help automotive repairs ranging from the simple to the more complex automotive including overhaul of engines and transmissions, and body work. Informs patrons of shop policies and provides instructions on safe and efficient operations of all equipment and associated tools. Provides individual and class instruction to military personnel and other eligible patrons. Develop lesson plans and prepares training aids and other instructional materials. Plans publicity. Provides technical guidance and leadership to employees. Trains new employees, direct work and provides instructions on task. Collect fees and safeguards funds and equipment. Order equipment and supplies. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: 1. Have three (3) years of general work experience that may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques in the automotive field, OR Have a four (4)-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study of education or a subject area related to the automotive field. 2. Be able to obtain certification to conduct Hawaii State Vehicle Inspections within one year of appointment Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above.
