Job Title: Staff Auditor Internship

Reports to: Director of Internal Audit

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Grade: NE07

Supervisory Responsibility: No

SUMMARY:

As the student intern enters the Company they are expected to assume, as much as possible, the role of a regular staff member. The responsibilities include working under the direct supervision of an Internal Audit management team member and participating in the completion of various internal audits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (other duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or Trustco Bank’s Board of Directors):

  • Under the direct supervision of a management level auditor, the student intern will assist in completion of financial, compliance, and operational audits.

  • Adherence to the Bank’s Code of Conduct and the Audit Department’s established policies and procedures.

  • Building proficiency of internal audit techniques and accounting principles through on-the-job training and by attending internal training courses offered by the Bank.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· Effective verbal and written communication skills.

· Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines.

· Ability to work well independently and in groups.

· Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs, including Excel and Word.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

· Preferred college field of study includes accounting, finance, economics or similar fields.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS:

This is a part-time position. Office hours Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm. Work schedule will be agreed upon with Internal Audit management prior to the internship beginning.

TRAVEL:

Travel using personal vehicle. Valid driver’s license required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace ; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
