GE Vernova Product Engineer (Castings) in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

The Product Engineering team is dedicated to manufacturing directionally solidified blades for GE industrial gas turbines hot gas path. The team encompasses both dimensional and metallurgical adherence to specifications. In this role engineers take product specific responsibility and accountability throughout the entire manufacturing process, specializing in cored single crystal super alloy components.

The Product Engineer is responsible for daily monitoring of the assigned product and relevant manufacturing processes. The Product Engineer will work onsite at our Investment Casting Foundry in Schenectady Cores and Castings where you will get to work with innovative technologies.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Statistically and comprehensively analyze product defects.

  • Trial countermeasures to improve yield and control plans to sustain.

  • Develop process routing steps and provide engineering instruction.

  • Review product specifications and work cross-department on ensuring a quality product that meets requirements.

  • Collaborate on plant initiatives to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

  • Create, update, and maintain product BOM.

  • Provide technical inputs to Design Engineering on producibility of designs and advise for potential design alternatives or criteria alleviations to designs with producibility issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field/related area.

  • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing operations/production with demonstrated ability to focus on problem solving.

Eligibility Requirements

  • This position is 100% onsite at the GE Schenectady plant and 1st shift.

  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Relocation assistance considered only within the USA.

Desired Characteristics

  • Understanding of process variables and how they impact quality of ceramic cored, directionally solidified investment castings.

  • General knowledge of metal casting and use of engineering fundamentals such as the various physics that drive and control casting processes.

  • Drive to execute in challenging and fulfilling manufacturing environment that operates under tight timelines and aggressive schedules.

  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with manufacturing experience.

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, with Six Sigma Methods & Tools, and associated engineering statistical methods.

  • Demonstrated capability to handle multiple tasks or projects and to develop/lead an action plan.

The base pay range for this position is $90 ,400- $120,000 . The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for 10 % performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. ​

*The company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120%, or 130% of salary in certain areas.
