Description

The Manager of Communications will support and implement innovative marketing initiatives to further awareness of the donation mission across the state. This position will oversee internal and external communications strategies, including social media platforms, company website, promotional materials, media relations and newsletters. The Manager of Communications must have proven ability to effectively lead and manage multiple communications assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be detail-oriented, collaborative, and creative with strong written and oral communication skills. This role provides supervision and direction to the communications team and reports to the Director of Communications.

The ideal candidate is in person at our Charleston office Monday - Friday and possesses relevant industry knowledge, is savvy, and a creative problem solver.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Communications to execute a communications plan to ensure consistent and relevant tone regarding organ and tissue donation in South Carolina.

  • Provide oversight and direction to communications staff regarding marketing campaigns, special events, volunteer programs, social media content and educational programs.

  • Assist with organizational cultural development, providing support and direction through internal engagement committees and communication tactics

  • Support Donor Family Services Aftercare Team in event planning.

  • Collaborate with Donor Family Services Aftercare team in transitioning interested donor families to opportunities within the volunteer program.

  • Oversee content creation and serve as subject matter expert regarding all external communication avenues.

  • Responsible for overseeing all organizational promotional materials (videos, annual report, testimonials, brochures, ads, press releases etc.).

  • Provide strategic direction for annual events and fundraising efforts.

  • Provide support and communications continuity with messaging throughout organization (in partnership with Human Resources, Hospital Services, Family Support Services, etc.).

  • Directly manage staff regarding workload, deadlines, and performance.

  • Responsible for approving staff expenses, timecards, PTO, reviewing content, scheduling 1x1’s, contributing to annual performance review process etc

  • Manage organizational inventory of promotional items and educational resources.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in integrated marketing communication, journalism, public health or other relevant subject.

  • 3-5 years’ experience with marketing, communications, and program development

  • 2 years’ experience managing a team.

  • Experience with social media management tools and graphic design software.

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Confident communicator, presenter with excellent organizational and leadership abilities.

  • Working knowledge of news and media landscape and how these support gorilla marketing initiatives.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
