Intern - Electrical Engineer - 2003889

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: IR Saxonburg team seeks an intern with experience in electrical engineering and control system design who would like to help drive manufacturing improvements in the areas of process controls automation, control systems, and modeling/simulation. The intern will gain real-world engineering experience at a thriving company as well as experience and training in project management and execution skills that will set this person apart in future career opportunities.

We frequently work in small teams to solve problems and explore new technologies, and we are constantly learning from one another and striving to grow as a group. The ideal intern for this environment will be enthusiastic and collaborative.

Responsibilities * Become familiar with the process controls and automation initiatives and challenges across the site and collaboratively identify project opportunities best aligned to skills * Research methods to execute on project and propose solutions with recommendation on path forward * Develop Proof of Concept (POC) prototypes for new programs and/or electromechanical systems within the project. * Generate suitable up-front documentation to demonstrate understanding of functionality with appropriate consideration for safety and use, as needed. * Procure, assemble, and test hardware as needed, following all test plans generated in the development phase. * Document and communicate all results in a clear, concise format. * Support hand-off to production team or provide guidance on path to production use.

Requirements * Engineering major, preferably electrical * Ability to work creatively in multi-disciplinary teams and strive for innovative solutions * Experience in circuit design and analysis a must * Experience programming in some combination of C#, .NET, Python, LabView, or other standard industrial protocol a major plus * Experience with programmable logic (PLC) or deterministic controllers a strong plus * Strong analytical skills a plus * Citizen or permanent resident
