Job Title: Survey Crew Chief

Job Description

We are seeking a proficient Survey Crew Chief to join our team. In this role, your responsibilities will include operating a total station instrument and data collector, a GPS rover, and a level. You will be capable of completing basic field calculations and maintaining a clean work vehicle. Your role will also involve leading and supervising one or more individuals on a survey crew and taking directions from Project Managers to efficiently coordinate work.

Hard Skills

• Operating a total station instrument and data collector

• Operating a GPS rover

• Operating a level and reading a level rod

• Completing basic field calculations

• Creating plats, drawings, as built, tree and topographic surveys, and exhibits using AutoCAD

• Working with Trimble survey data collectors

Soft Skills

• Clear communication with field crews, engineers, and project managers

• Ability to follow basic safety procedures

• Ability to take directions and coordinate work efficiently

• Leadership skills to supervise one or more individuals on a survey crew

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 9 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Savannah, Georgia.

Work Environment

The chosen candidate will be tasked with collecting field survey data for various types of surveys including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, wetland and tree locations, construction layout, and similar fieldwork. Proper PPE will be provided for all on-site work. Job requires walking long distances in varied terrain including woods, wetlands, and marsh areas. Be prepared to encounter bees, hornets, snakes, and other outside elements and insects. Working hours are Monday to Friday, with some Saturdays, typically from 6 am to 3 pm, 40-50 hours a week. The work location is in the Savannah area.
