Job Summary and Qualifications

To plan, develop, organize and manage the operations of the Medical Staff Office in relationship to regulatory standards, accreditation requirements and other applicable laws or regulations related to physicians’ and allied health professionals’ qualifications and competencies. Provides support to the President of Medical Staff, Vice President of the Medical Staff and Credentials Chair for day-to-day functions.

Complies with the HCA Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Reports instances of perceived and actual non-compliance to Team Leader or through other reporting mechanisms.

Assists with the credentialing review process from processing the pre-application to reviewing the completed credentials file in the Medical Staff office for Board approval. This includes participating in the orientation process for medical staff, disseminating credentials information and coordinating individual privilege requests and issues. Provides verification to outside entities requesting verification of MHUMC facility affiliation. Conducts new provider orientation.

Directly facilitates highly confidential matters. Functions as a resource for POMS, VPOMS and other physician leaders. Provides vital information to medical staff members, physician leaders and hospital in a timely manner. Provides personal and individual guidance to medical staff regarding privilege, credentialing or practice issues.

Maintains current knowledge of credentialing standards and Joint Commission medical staff standards. Completes research and review of literature for best practices and development of policies and procedures. Maintains and consults with network of credentialing specialists at other hospitals to aid in research for policy and procedure issues, privileges and requirements for ongoing professional physician practice evaluations.

What qualifications you will need:

Minimum of 2-5 years credentialing and/or medical staff or healthcare experience

CPMSM or CPCS through National Association of Medical Staff Services when eligibility requirements are met.

Knowledge of Joint Commission credentialing and medical staff standards. Computer skills: knowledge and extensive use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint Microsoft Office products

Associate’s degree or minimum of 5-10 years in medical staff services and credentialing
