Return to Job Listings Ready Mix Sales Representative Company: Knife River - Central Minnesota Division Department: Ready Mix Location: Sauk Rapids, MN Hiring Manager: Sheri L Lemke Closing Date: 08/20/2024 at 11:59pm CDT Job Type: Full-Time Job Summary: To establish and maintain good relationships with current customers, contact potential customers, bid and estimate potential projects, create lasting customer relationships in order to obtain maximum volumes and profitability from concrete sales. Minimum Qualifications: 1.Associate degree in Sales/Marketing/Finance or equivalent sales/industry experience. 2.5 years of experience in a related field (Ready Mix Concrete) and/or reading plan specifications, project management. 3.5 years in sales calling directly on customers, preference with construction industry background. 4.Advanced computer skills, with ability to learn/understand a variety of computer applications (Word, Xcel, Command, BCMI, etc.) How To Apply Knife River is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Preferred Requirements 1.B.S College degree Duties & Responsibilities Safety & Compliance 1.Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety polices in their work environment. 2.Ensures all aspects of their role are executed in a safe manner. 3.Obeys and adheres to safety guidelines when on Knife River facilities and customer projects & facilities. Scope & Authority 4.Make direct calls on customers. Assist customers regarding service pricing, order taking, merchandising and product training as needed. 5.Prospect on new accounts such as concrete contractors, sub-contractors, general contractors, to solicit new business. 6.Handle inside and outside sales of products. Follow through on potential sales leads including obtaining necessary information such as job specifications and take-off of projects. 7.Develop product knowledge through value added sales, trade shows, customer questions, and product quality resolution. Ability to identify best product for customer needs and advise. 8.Prepare quotes/bids for projects using appropriate worksheets and computer systems that provide company unit prices. Discuss costs and schedule with operating divisions as well as providing project opportunities and challenges and other project information advice to appropriate internal staff. 9.Use companies' computer systems (Command Alkon, BCMI, & Sandler Training) to handle reporting, forecasting, bidding, and customer analytics. 10.Follow through on customer satisfaction on jobs awarded. Monitor product quality during delivery and installation. 11.Communicate effectively and work with difficult people under high stress situations, be able to work calmly and professionally. 12.Facilitate pre-construction, construction and post-construction meetings with appropriate internal staff as demanded by the complexity of projects awarded. 13.Immediately report concerns regarding billing, credit, deliver and quality of product to appropriate internal departments and coordinate meetings with other departments, as needed, to address customer concerns. 14.Attends seminars, classes, and organizational meetings in Ready Mix Industry to develop product knowledge. 15.Continue to gain Ready Mix industry knowledge and new trends through trade journals, newspapers, and other publications and to be informed of new developments in the construction industry, government, or the community. Working with Billing & Credit Department 16.Follow up with Billing department on quotes & mix d signs entered in the system. 17.Pick up payments from customers as necessary to prevent COD status or late charges. 18.Assists/work with Collections Department on overdue invoices if needed. Working with Quality Department 19.Work with Quality department on Customer Service/Warranty issues. 20.Handle customer complaints and customer service issues. 21.Work with Quality department on mix designs and customer issues. 22.Perform other duties as assigned if needed. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities *Strong customer focus. *Excellent people skills, able to develop effectively working relationships internally & externally. *Problem solving and analytical skills. *Advanced computer skills with aptitude to learn/understand a variety of applications. *Good customer service skills. *Ability to handle multiple priorities with short deadlines.
