Waste Connections Class 3 Truck Driver - Rear Load in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Location: Saskatoon

Reports to: Operations Supervisor

Compensation: Hourly/Incentive

Job type: Full Time, Permanent

As a Rear Load Garbage Truck Driver, you are responsible for ensuring safe operation of a truck, while driving. The driver drives to residential locations to pick up organic and recycling waste with a driver helper. The driver then proceeds to subsequent customers until the truck has a full load, and then dumps the load at a recycling plant or our organics facility before continuing customer pickups.

As a condition of employment, all new employees to safety sensitive positions must successfully pass a substance test within a two week period of their hiring date.

Duties:

  • Training for and operation of Rear Load waste and recycling collection equipment as a full-time operator, training on equipment is provided.

  • Coordination with fellow operators and employees within other departments to ensure maximum efficiency in daily operations.

  • Container and equipment maintenance, buildings and facilities work, and other duties as requested.

  • Adherence to company, and customer, site safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Class 3A license required (1A preferred) with clear abstract.

  • Strong knowledge of Saskatoon and surrounding area.

  • Minimum 3 years driving experience- short haul/city experience preferred.

  • Hydraulic equipment experience, and/or farm background an asset.

  • Able to work both in a team environment and unsupervised.

  • Excellent logistical and organizational skills.

  • Good communication skills.

  • A criminal record check will be required.
