GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for basic equipment programming in addition to providing preventative maintenance and repairs to Packaging, Converting and Coating equipment and machinery ensuring these departments are able to produce without interruption/down time while ensuring employee safety and product quality standards (FDA, ISO, MDD) are achieved.

Key Responsibilities: Diagnoses problems, provides repairs and conducts PM's to all production machinery and equipment in the Packaging, Converting and Coating departments. Troubleshoot electrical problems with schematics and laptop to access programming and control logic to determine cause(s) and perform repairs. Coordinates equipment changes with the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering as required ensuring optimum equipment efficiency. Tags and maintains required records of machine/equipment operations including maintenance on all equipment. Assists in maintaining an inventory of spare parts for Packaging, Converting and Coating machinery/equipment in a neat and orderly fashion ensuring that it is stocked with key machine/equipment parts and maintenance supplies. Assists in training Mechanics in maintenance practices and Operators on how to "fine-tune" and maintain machines/equipment. Expedites external repairs on malfunctioning equipment with the support of the Lead Packaging Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisor as needed to avoid production delays. Installs new equipment as required. All employees have the responsibility and authority to report any action that puts any process or product at risk. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Associate's degree in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance or similar field preferred. Electrical, and/or Mechanical certifications highly desired, with the emphasis on electrical programming and troubleshooting. 5+ years industrial maintenance experience in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic disciplines in a manufacturing setting is required. 2+ years of experience working with a PM program in an industrial setting preferred Skills and Abilities: Must be able to read, write, and understand basic English. Must be a seasoned troubleshooter, able to use multi-meters, laptop and other equipment with proficiency to accurately diagnose electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions/problems and make the necessary repairs. Must be able to maintain the Preventative Maintenance Program via a computerized maintenance management system. Must be able to compute basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and be proficient using the computer including the programs MS Word, and Excel. Prior use of MRP systems desired. Must be capable of standing for a full shift (8 to 12 hours), able to lift, push, pull 50+ pounds, walk, stoop, kneel, bend over, and grasp objects with both hands on a frequent basis. Must have good hand-eye coordination, hold visual acuity or corrective vision including close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Must be able to work well with others, and able to report to work on time, on a consistent and regular basis, and work various shifts. Bilingual Spanish English a plus.

Conducts inspections of health, safety and environmental conditions and risks in his or her working area as required, corrects substandard items/conditions/risks and/or reports these to his or her supervisor as appropriate. Asks questions and/or informs his or her supervisor when unsure about any health, safety or environment condition, policy or procedure.
