JOB TITLE: Senior DevOps Engineer

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our IT team. This role is forward thinking and maintains existing systems, process, procedures but analyzes ways to enhance and improve efficiencies across all layers of software deployment and release management. Working closing with development, QA, Security, and Infrastructure IT teams to ensure a smooth and reliable release process.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB:

• Help define and develop tools that enable product teams to support the business.

• Migrate existing applications to new environments.

• Provide support to the existing configuration management environment.

• Develop solutions in alignment with departmental goals, SLAs for availability, scalability and resiliency.

• Develop and advocate for best practices, standards and processes.

• Work with teams to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in the deployment and build processes.

• Lead improvement of technical processes across Platform engineering and Operations teams to improve delivery and availability for platforms.

• Support security management. Maintain user accounts and profiles. Prepare for and support emergency events.

• Keep systems running at peak performance, upgrade operating system, patches, and version upgrades using automation.

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Software Developers, QA and Infrastructure Engineering teams to deliver on time and within budget.

• Lead other product teams and developers through design and implementation decisions to achieve balance between strategic design and tactical needs.

• Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security and high availability in the cloud.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide accurate and effective implementation of software.

• Ownership of Deployment and Release management tooling platforms.

• Demonstrate a commitment to high quality environment.

• Lead or serve on IT ad hoc committees as assigned. This may include research, problem solving, information organization and documentation.

• Design, implement and maintain highly available and scalable AWS infrastructure.

• Create and manage CI/CD pipelines.

• Automate infrastructure deployment and configuration management using Terraform.

• Monitor and analyze system performance, identify, and resolve issues proactively.

• Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Generate and update applicable documentation

• Maintain and enhance security and compliance standards across the infrastructure.

• Provide guidance and support to other teams for infrastructure and deployment related issues.

• Continuously improve and optimize the process and procedures for increased efficiency and reliability.

• Remain knowledgeable about current and new technology related to all aspects of information processing by researching technical materials, attending seminars, training classes and consulting with personnel from other industries.

Required:

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or 5+ years of experience directly related to professional software develop or DevOps

• Strong analytical ability to perform full range of infrastructure and development operations tasks utilizing state of the art concepts, techniques and languages.

• Strong quality assurance mindset and competency so that build scripts and associated deployments are validated with low defect rates.

• Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions and effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology.

• Knowledge of business management concepts, techniques and functions

• Knowledge of project management techniques and ability to lead small to medium sized projects or development efforts.

• Ability to accurately estimate deliverables requirements into development hours.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and instructional manuals.

• Ability to write reports and other varied business correspondence and present information effectively both written and oral.

• Strong leadership capabilities, self-motivated, pleasantly aggressive and realistically ambitious with high personal ethics

• Must be able to work independently as well as a member of a team, as well as work with confidential material and information.
