Position Overview:
Diet Clerks provide all clerical support for the diet office, which provides customer service to patients, staff, and visitors. Under general supervision, the Clerk is responsible to process patient menus, diet orders, nourishment orders, and late tray requests. Diet Clerks answer the phone, record messages, visit patients for food preferences and menu selections, order forms and office supplies, can take and record food/equipment temperatures, prepare & check meal trays for accuracy, and complete cleaning assignments. In absence of supervision, act as department lead, and secure department as assigned.

EDUCATION
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma
Other: Completion of courses in dietetics, nutrition, medical terminology
OR Other: Advanced training as Diet Technician
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
SS-Serve Save Certified
OR Certified Dietary Supervisor
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
- Previous six months experience in a hospital food service environment and demonstrated competency in diet knowledge may be considered in lieu of previous diet clerk experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of modified diets and basic principles of nutrition.
Basic understanding of quantity kitchen utensils and equipment, basic principles and practices of safety, sanitation and personal hygiene.
The ability to speak, read, and writes English is required. Basic math skills, specifically weights, measures, and ability to do recipe conversions, fluid measurement calculations is required.
Ability to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
Attention to detail and accuracy required.
Clerical skills and basic computer skills required.
Good customer relation skills and phone etiquette required.

Pay Range is $24.89 to $30.93 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
