Overview

The Senior Director/VP of Development for the West will lead the solar and storage project development team in the WECC market, including WA, OR, AZ, CO, NV, and NM. A successful candidate will have deep knowledge of these markets, significant proven renewable project development experience, meticulous project and pipeline management abilities, strong communication skills, significant transaction experience and financial acumen, and an ability to lead a team and drive complex projects to successful completion. This position will report to the Chief Development Officer.

The Senior Director/VP of Development will lead a team of developers but is expected to be hands-on since CCR is a culturally flat organization where senior and junior team members work collaboratively throughout the project lifecycle. The Development organization leads asset development from early to NTP stages. We are looking for a team member who can hit the ground running, is excited by a fast-paced environment, and is eager to make CCR the leading developer in these markets.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the continued forward movement of priority projects in a well-structured, detail oriented, and derisking manner to bring them to fruition on-time and with the targeted returns

  • Manage a team of developers and support staff while providing leadership and mentorship in project development and management, analysis, risk assessment, negotiation, and business development.

  • Manage and collaborate with internal and external resources in structuring, negotiating, and closing project transactions including real estate agreements, interconnection agreements, tax agreements, PPA agreements, permitting approvals etc.

  • Develop, own, and execute the project development strategy and tactics for the West Region.

  • Work closely with the Origination, EPC, Legal, Grid Integration, Policy, Environmental, Investment Analytics, and Project Finance teams on the above

  • Direct portfolio-wide activities with a focus on optimizing the use of resources, budget management, and project profitability.

  • Drive strategy for project green-fielding and acquisition in the market, and lead developer partner agreements and relationships

  • Analyze and interpret regulations, power sector trends, the competitive landscape, and other data by market to inform the development strategy

  • Embrace and model the Cypress Creek mission and values.

Education & Experience Required

  • 10-15+ years of experience in energy project development, with a strong preference for having significant utility-scale renewable experience in the West

  • 4-year bachelor's degree required. MBA or other relevant master’s degree valued.

  • Demonstrated success in managing teams and maturing large complex projects

  • Ability to synthesize information and communicate clearly and succinctly in written and verbal form

  • Self-motivated with a high level of initiative, attention to detail and accountability. Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Strong interest in joining a dynamic, value-building environment and being part of a high-performing and collaborative team.

Locations: Open to location in Los Angeles CA, San Francisco CA, or West remote position depending on experience.

Compensation: The salary range for the position is $180,000-$260,000 plus bonus and benefits. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
