PURPOSE:
Support the company strategy at a regional level
Build and maintain a strategic approach regarding our Procurement & Service Provider utilization and development across the region
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Develop and execute a Service Provider strategy focusing on procurement and building capacity for the Region that supports the business needs.
Promote effective relationships with our Service Providers and collaborate with the various teams at District level to ensure alignment and compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procurement & Carrier Development
Understand the local and regional market as to develop and execute a carrier onboarding tactical strategy
Promote positive and trusting relationship with Carrier base
Carrier development: constantly assess Carrier base for onboarding new and/or facilitate removal of carriers
Understand ground transportation business for adequate Carrier Lane selections in accordance with local needs and opportunities
Support branches with any Carrier escalations that may occur from a commercial or operations stand-point
Develop Procurement strategy with the goal to track the Product´s buying trend and maintained records regarding Service Provider rates
Ability to effectively negotiate attractive pricing leveraging regional volumes
Develop lane management programs to effectively reduce overall transportation costs
Timely provide feedback to Service Providers on pricing/rates
As applicable, participate in the monthly / quarterly evaluations with service providers
Business Development Support
Collaborate with Product, Services, Sales and Account Management teams as support is requested
Engage with North America branches as to increase their level of ground transportation knowledge within our Region & collaborate with the usage of strategic Service Providers for key-business into our Region
Collaborate with Regional Transcon Manager, Services and other Products to assess on-going items, alignment, projects or needed support as determined
Communication
Timely response to all branches and/or Service Providers inquiries
Active communication and periodic meetings with Regional Product Managers and Local Product Managers to monitor alignment and collaborate on any business needs
Weekly/Monthly data capture on relevant metrics that support the regional strategy (Service Provider usage, volume, trade lanes, rate behavior, etc.)
Quarterly reviews with Regional Vice President & Director to provide summary on region´s performance, goal tracker and/or support needed from their end
Systems and Tools
Develop basic-level knowledge of Expeditors systems
Develop expert-level knowledge of Scout bidding platform
Good knowledge of Office Software
Qualifications and Requirements
Skills, Experience, and Education
5 years’ experience working in supply chain management, logistics or related field
Bachelor’s degree or higher with training or relevant experience in supply chain management, logistics and trade compliance
Understand routing and effective modes of transportation
In depth knowledge of approved carrier base
Minimum four years Expeditors experience
Ability to create/write and articulate business plans at an executive level · Knowledge of required Expeditors operating systems as well as available tools in Microsoft package that supports task assessment, data analysis, process mapping, etc.
Demonstrated customer service skills and proven interpersonal skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, time management skills
Attention to detail
Bilingual: English and Spanish
