Oracle IT Director -Chief of Staff, AI2 Compute in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Here at OCI we’re building the world’s largest AI clusters and we’re the fastest at bringing them to market. The AI Infrastructure organization at OCI is leading this effort. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Director of Business Operations to serve on our leadership team as the Chief of Staff to the VP of AI2 Infrastructure Compute & Software. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing strategic priorities, managing key initiatives, and overseeing a team of Technical Project Managers (TPMs) to guarantee timely and cost-effective project delivery, while building and maintaining strong relationships with team members and stakeholders in an environment of rapid growth and increasing complexity.

This leader will be an excellent organizational and inclusive leader, with a passion for empowering and scaling people. They will be a superb written and verbal communicator. They will be comfortable presenting to senior leadership and influencing stakeholders across the organization. They will be proficient at looking around corners by identifying critical internal and external trends and will be detail orientated, with a passion for simplifying processes to deliver operational excellence at scale. They will be able to roll-up their sleeves working directly with models and data as well as ideating and driving strategic priorities for the OCI AI 2 Compute organization.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Work closely with the VP to develop and drive strategic initiatives that align with the organization's short-term and long-term goals. Lead strategic planning processes, facilitate strategy reviews, and ensure effective execution. Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making by utilizing analytics and insights to guide strategic choices across the business.

  • Rhythm of the Business: Establish and maintain the rhythm of the business, including regular executive team meetings, staff meetings, and other key forums. Ensure that these meetings are structured, focused, and result in actionable outcomes and follow-ups. Leverage data and analytics to assess the effectiveness of processes and identify areas for improvement.

  • Organizational Health: Safeguard the health and effectiveness of the organization, addressing issues related to culture, communication, and team dynamics while helping the organization scale quickly through expedited recruiting and hiring activities. Foster a high-performance environment by promoting continuous feedback, recognition, and a data-informed approach to people management. Utilize employee engagement surveys, performance metrics, and other relevant data to drive organizational health initiatives.

  • Project Management: Lead and mentor a team of TPMs to deliver projects on time and within budget. Provide guidance and remove obstacles to ensure efficient project execution. Encourage the use of data analytics in project planning, risk management, and resource allocation to optimize outcomes.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration and communication across various departments and functions to drive efficiencies and improve results. Break down silos and promote a unified approach to goal achievement.

  • Performance Monitoring: Develop a robust organization performance monitoring framework, tracking, and analyzing relevant commitments and metrics. Provide regular reports to the VP, using data visualization techniques to communicate complex information effectively.

  • Strategic Initiatives and Special Projects: Take on special projects and strategic initiatives, leading them from conception to successful completion, ensuring that decisions are based on factual insights and measurable outcomes.

Requirements

  • BS (or equivalent experience) in Business Administration or related field, MS preferred.

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience, with a strong combination of strategy, operations, and project management experience.

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to drive change and influence data-informed decision-making practices across the organization.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking capabilities and a proven track record of translating strategy into actionable plans with measurable outcomes.

  • Experience in building and leading high-performing teams, with a focus on mentorship, development, and a data-driven approach to performance management.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, capable of building relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

  • Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing requirements in a dynamic environment.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and exceptional time management skills.

  • Proficiency in project management software and data analysis tools is advantageous.

US: Hiring Range: from $120,100 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
