Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

Salary Range

$96,400.00 - $159,100.00

What Is the Opportunity?

The Credit Analyst supports our National Accounts underwriting and marketing organizations by functioning as the primary credit analyst for Loss Sensitive business for assigned industries. Additionally, this role may provide support to credit related projects and produce timely and accurate portfolio or other reports.

Travelers offers a hybrid work location model that is designed to support flexibility.

What Will You Do?

CREDIT RATINGS:

  • Produce accurate credit ratings with an appropriate level of documentation.

  • Meet credit review deadlines as established by marketing & underwriting.

  • Make sound credit and collateral recommendations.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of client financial information.

  • Facilitate resolution of credit-related issues in support of retention and new business goals, while protecting the company from inappropriate credit risk.

  • Assist in controlling credit risk by, when appropriate, working with collateral analysts to monitor and manage collateral and account documentation activity. Identify collateral & documentation deficiencies and recommend and/or implement solutions.

  • Participate in internal and external educational opportunities in order to increase credit and industry knowledge base.

MARKETING SUPPORT:

  • Participate with marketing and underwriting in the renewal and new business process consistent with BI growth and retention goals - including calls or visits with clients and prospects as appropriate.

  • Act as internal contact for credit related questions and issues.

  • Assist in providing credit-related training and support to underwriting & marketing staff.

CREDIT RELATED PROJECTS:

  • Provide support, when needed and appropriate, to credit related initiatives, including enhancements to workflow and technology including, but not limited to, supporting the Credit Scorecard, Rating Log, ELS and Excel based exposure reports.

PORTFOLIO REPORTS:

  • Produce custom portfolio report, when needed and appropriate, from data found in the portfolio spreadsheets, the credit scorecard tool or other sources.Other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • MBA, economics or other master's degree in a related discipline preferred.

  • Financial analysis, risk assessment and portfolio management background.

  • Exposure to marketing and underwriting.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency in Excel.

  • Independent decision making, with a proper balance of risk and reward.

  • Ability to balance timeliness and accuracy.

  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of credit related tools, technology and workflow preferred.

  • Ability to effectively lead credit related projects and bring them to completion.

  • Familiarity with credit modeling preferred.

What is a Must Have?

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics or a similar pertinent discipline.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in increasingly responsible positions in credit risk management, financial analysis and/or risk assessment.
