Amazon Sustainability Program Manager, Worldwide Grocery Stores in Seattle, Washington

Worldwide Grocery Stores is seeking a sustainability champion to drive carbon reduction initiatives across Whole Foods Market stores, Amazon Fresh and Go stores, and online grocery delivery facilities. The Sustainability Program Manager will work cross-functionally across a subset of Amazon's new and existing buildings portfolio to support, implement, and track sustainability initiatives (mainly focused in NA). The program's goal is to bring about measurable operational and environmental benefits in support of Amazon's Climate Pledge. The candidate is expected to coordinate with a broad range of stakeholders (both internal and external), and support related communications and change management initiatives.

They are passionate about sustainability, and will speak truth to power on what matters for sustainable living, even if it competes with our standard operating procedures. They are passionate about continuous process improvement; adept at making plans; and diligent with follow-through. They are excited to roll up their sleeves, deliver in ambiguity, work autonomously, and execute projects with limited oversight.

Key job responsibilities

The Sustainability Program Manager will:

• Coordinate with a range of stakeholders (internal and external) to implement sustainability initiatives in existing buildings, and new construction design standards.

• Develop reports, dashboards, and metrics which distill complex data into actionable insights to inform decision making and project prioritization.

• Develop mechanisms, tools, and processes for tracking and reporting actuals energy/water data, initiatives implementation status, and carbon savings (potential and actual).

• Oversee day-to-day implementation of network-wide initiatives and new technology pilots.

• Help develop annual budgets, project scopes, and technical white papers for sustainability program and initiatives.

• Gather feedback from partners and continually streamline processes to improve efficiency.

About the team

The Worldwide Grocery Stores (WWGS) Sustainable Buildings team is accountable for reducing carbon emissions across WWGS buildings, in line with The Climate Pledge (Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2040, a decade earlier than the Paris Agreement). The team’s scope includes Wholefoods Market Stores, Amazon Fresh and Go Stores, and online grocery delivery buildings. Our team’s goal is to ensure we build new infrastructure sustainably, and reduce our existing operations carbon footprint where economically viable.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in sustainability, energy, engineering, environmental policy, operations, or a relevant study

• 3+ years of relevant work experience in sustainability or energy efficiency

• Experience with design and implementation of sustainability programs such as energy, waste, and water

• Experience with stakeholder engagement, data visualization, process improvement, and change management

Preferred Qualifications

• LEED Green Associate / AP, WELL AP, Fitwel Ambassador, PMP, other sustainability-related credentials

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $95,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $177,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
