Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer - AWS Identity & Access in Santa Clara, California

The AWS Identity team innovates, builds, and operates the identity and access management services to enable AWS customers run their business workloads confidently and securely in the AWS cloud. We enable customers to securely manage identities, resources, and permissions at scale. We operate some of the largest distributed systems in the world, processing over 400 million requests per second.

Our mission is to provide an intuitive workflow for AWS customers to manage access their most critical workloads. As part of this mission, we use automated reasoning techniques to guide customers to set and manage appropriate access controls across all their AWS environments.

We are growing our team with individuals passionate about building products for all AWS customers that combine automated reasoning and machine learning. We are seeking a passionate senior software development engineer to build AWS solutions to help customers improve the security of their cloud assets by correctly setting permissions. We innovate in a highly technical space. You will provide technical leadership and work with a team to build solutions on a global scale, own systems end to end, and influence the direction of technology used by all AWS customers globally. You will define and implement systems with high standards for architecture, design, code quality, and operational excellence. You will have the opportunity to drive mission-critical projects and collaborate with senior leaders and partner teams to deliver impactful changes to AWS. You will work with others, from mentoring junior developers to collaborating with principal engineers, to deliver new solutions to customers and raise the bar for your team’s software development.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
