Oracle Networking Optics QA Engineer in Santa Clara, California

Job Description

The Networking Optics QA Engineer ensures the quality and performance of optical networking components and systems. This role involves developing and implementing testing procedures for optical transceivers, fiber optic cables, and related networking equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical networking, quality assurance methodologies, and a keen attention to detail.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in optical networking quality assurance or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with optical networking testing equipment and methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience of working with testing of optical transceivers, fiber optic cables, and other networking hardware

  • Proficiency in using optical and networking testing instruments such as BERTs, and network traffic generators.

  • Experience with Python

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Highly analytical, technically proficient, and able to learn new tools and software quickly

  • High ownership with a strong bias for action

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for this role include:

  1. Develop and implement quality assurance processes and testing protocols for optical networking components and systems.

  2. Perform detailed inspections and testing of optical transceivers, fiber optic cables, and other networking hardware to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.

  3. Utilize various optical and networking testing equipment such as bit error rate testers (BERT), and network analyzers to assess product quality.

  4. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of QA processes, test results, and quality metrics.

  5. Generate detailed reports on product quality, identifying any non-conformance and suggesting corrective actions.

  6. Work closely with optical engineers, network engineers, production teams, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement solutions.

  7. Ensure that all optical networking products comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as IEEE, ITU, and Telcordia standards.

  8. Stay updated on the latest advancements in optical networking and quality assurance methodologies.

US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

  8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

  10. Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
