Applied Materials Insider Risk Investigator - (B4) in Santa Clara, California

Position Description

Applied Materials has an exciting opportunity to join a Global Litigation & Compliance Team. This position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that works collaboratively within Legal and jointly with the Business Units, Information Security, Human Resources, and Corporate Services to conduct a wide range of investigations.

This position will report directly to the Insider Risk Program Manager and support the organization in mitigating and investigating insider risk activities. Responsibilities for this position include insider threat investigations and lessons learned identification. This candidate will also help create corporate strategy, review policy & procedures, evaluate insider risk control gaps, and develop training related to insider risk & intellectual property protection.

This position requires strong analytic capabilities, technical & communication skills, and creativity, as well as the ability to follow industry standard methods of conducting investigations, forensic examinations and properly identifying, collecting, and analyzing digital evidence.

Major Areas of Responsibility

Significantly contribute to a global team that conducts insider risk and IP protection investigations for legal and corporate matters using industry leading technology. Additionally, through the monitoring of internal and external threat landscapes, support management in updating strategy and intellectual property protections to proactively identify insider risk issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Law, Intelligence or other related field from an accredited university and a minimum of 5-10 years of experience in high-tech crime investigations, intelligence, or insider threat analysis / investigations

  • A proven track record in working complex investigations across various business units/functions – preferably in an international environment or at a global company

  • Experience conducting / leading interviews – either in person or through other methods (virtual meetings, etc.)

  • Proficiency with analytic tools (including user and entity behavioral analytics tools) and a working knowledge of how they apply to insider threat detection and investigation

  • Experience with the intelligence lifecycle and utilizing each phase to support the investigative process

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate and visually present complex subject matters and analysis results, and the talent to draft concise reports for the intended audience in layman’s terms

  • Prior experience working with confidential, sensitive, or privileged information

  • Strong attention to detail, concern for data accuracy, and high personal integrity

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team

  • APAC foreign language skills are a plus

Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Open Source tools and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) gathering techniques

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, networking, and various technical methods of data exfiltration

  • Experience with (or general understanding of) digital forensics examinations and how to effectively leverage digital forensics in support of an investigation

  • Project management experience

  • Familiarity with international data privacy, cybersecurity and encryption laws/regulations

  • Information security, digital forensics, insider threat, or other related certifications preferred

U.S. Salary Range:

$132,000.00 - $181,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
