Apple’s Platform Architecture group is looking for a motivated technician with a strong background in reworks and instrumentation. Ideally, you are ambitious with initiative and passion for accurate data gathering and analysis. Additionally, you have experience in instrumenting platforms and SoCs for power and performance measurements and running experiments.
Description
You will perform power instrumentations, gathering performance and power data on shipping products and work with a team to communicate findings and inform further actions. This will require precise reworks on commercial samples and expert-level soldering experience, with familiarity in lab equipment i.e. microscope, soldering stations, etc., and understanding expected workload behavior as well as impacts of other system level effects (like thermals).
Minimum Qualifications
Key Qualifications
Ability to perform precision reworks to enable testing for fine-grained power data on commercial samples with excellent attention to detail
Expert background in soldering/de-soldering under a microscope, fine-pitch components, instrumenting resistors and inductors for power measurements
Experience gathering power data with a focus on accuracy
Experience with Metcal and JBC soldering stations
Experience with digital multimeter and bench power supplies
Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience
4+ years minimum related experience required.
Additional Requirements
Familiarity with modern consumer electronic devices and SoCs
Familiarity with best practices for device instrumentation and micro-reworks
Good understanding of basic computer system architecture
Excellent attention to detail

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $36.95 and $64.70/hr, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
