Small Engine Technician

Team members primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the inspection, repair, and maintenance of the companys small engine assets as well as assisting as needed in all areas of Support Services. Team member reports to the Heavy Equipment Service Manager.

Core Duties:

  • Control the hazards you and your team members are subjected to by correcting hazards as soon as they are present
  • Participate in daily/weekly hazard briefings
  • Complete time sheet with pertinent information from the days activities
  • Maintain accurate and complete work orders
  • Inspect and inventory parts and supplies upon delivery. Report any variances to the Parts Manager and/or team members immediate supervisor
  • Must keep and maintain required tools to perform job functions
  • Inspect equipment and hand tools and have deficient items repaired or replaced
  • Ensure appropriate hoisting/rigging apparatus is within compliance
  • Take all necessary actions to repair the root cause of the failure
  • Must be familiar with parts and components of complex machinery and engines
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) for equipment
  • Need to be familiar with electronics, be able to read manuals, or use electronic diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and perform repairs
  • Ability to look at mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, identify problems and offer possible solutions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs
  • Assemble, disassemble, clean, examine parts for damage or wear, adjust, calibrate, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance on equipment
  • Maintain shop and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
  • Keep equipment, trucks and trailers clean, neat, and orderly
  • Must be able to complete task that may require bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, crawling, and balancing
  • Communicate time away from work with your team leader with sufficient notice
  • Willingness to work hours as required

  • OSHA Training
  • Technical Training
  • Hoisting/Rigging Training
  • Forklift Certification
  • MSHA Training
  • First Aid/CPR
