31N Student Support Specialist

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible

SALARY: Salary to commensurate with experience and qualifications of the successful candidate, includes Full Benefits.

SUMMARY: The Student Support Specialist for K-4 Elementary students will actively support students, parents, and district personnel with engaging in strategies leading to increased mental, emotional, and social well-being. This position will also provide support services to students in accordance with 31N Funding and Caring 4 Students guidelines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrate successful experiences in counseling, social work, psychology, mental health care, or equivalent
  2. Administer a comprehensive behavioral health assessment including the use of screening tools
  3. Development of a treatment/plan of care, with input from the student and parents/caregivers as appropriate
  4. Behavior health interventions to enhance the psychological, behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and social factors important for the prevention, treatment, or management of behavioral health concerns
  5. Assess the effectiveness of the delivered services toward achieving the student driven goals and objectives via treatment service plan review
  6. Assess needs for additional counseling services, making referrals when appropriate to Community Mental Health System.
  7. Assist in Crisis Intervention
  8. Serve as case manager to coordinate services
  9. Experience with the development, selection, and implementation of researched based behavior interventions for students
  10. Knowledge of academic and behavior interventions to support high quality instruction for all students and to meet student's individual needs
  11. Knowledge of TRAILS to wellness preferred
  12. Current knowledge of research-based strategies and interventions
  13. Thorough understanding of School Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and how it relates to the classroom setting and school climate
  14. Models skillful use of data to inform decision making
  15. Provide ongoing assessment and data support including data-based problem solving.
  16. Ability to accurately analyze data.
  17. Demonstrated Technical Skills
  18. Maintain appropriate logging and billing for 31N
  19. Possess well-developed problem-solving skills and leadership potential
  20. Possess sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters
  21. Possess working knowledge of best practice strategies; able to make research-based decisions
  22. Pass background check
  23. Effective and timely written and oral communication with parents, staff, and other school personnel
  24. Develops and maintains a positive rapport with families and staff
  25. Maintains professional competence through professional reading and attending appropriate workshops, courses, and conferences in keeping with the needs of students and in accordance with district guidelines
  26. Maintains regular and reliable attendance
  27. Any other duties as assigned.
