Program Manager, Cost Savings/VAVE is responsible for achieving VAVE (Value Analysis Value Engineering), financial targets set by the segment leadership team, for product categories produced for and by Newell Brands Outdoor and Recreation (O&R) segment. Program Manager, Cost Savings/VAVE leads the segment to identify, align with business team to start, provides leadership in project portfolio management, and collaborates with cross-functional teams across business verticals and regions to execute projects to achieve VAVE targets.
Program Manager, Cost Savings/VAVE is to lead global development cross-functional teams from “Ideation” to “Execution” of VAVE solutions that meet cost savings targets, schedule, quality, and performance. Additionally, she/he will aid in the both the accuracy and analysis of the project portfolio financial savings, planning & report out for the business segment.
Key Responsibilities:
Achieve savings targets as set by O&R segment leadership, and tracked in Corporate Productivity Tracker
Use financial information and analysis to support fact-based business decisions.
Lead quarterly ideation sessions (internal and external) to maintain full funnel value as set by Newell Brands Leadership.
Develop and submit new VAVE projects for review and approval through the NPD process/guidelines.
Leads Network Planning Sessions to collaboratively develop project timelines.
Develop requirements and project plans with date driven deliverables and holds team and self-accountable to meet these plans.
Review and provide feedback on engineering design with Engineers at suppliers or plants.
Lead cross-functional team at factories and segment offices to drive alignment and successful project outcome of all productivity projects assigned.
Establish recurring team meetings and communication that drive project execution.
Collaborate with Newell Brands global Team members on development and execution of VAVE projects and ideas.
Manage project scope alignment, adherence, and changes to ensure successful project delivery.
Motivate and monitor project team members and contractors while influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
Identify and resolve issues within the project team and escalate issues as needed.
Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
Develop self as a role model for professionalism and leadership.
Recognize, celebrate, and reward successes of individuals and of teams.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering. PMP Certification is preferred.
Consumer products industry experience is preferred
Previous experience in plastics molding, metal forming, or product assembly is required.
5+ years of experience in project management.
Familiarity with basic manufacturing processes and production planning.
Experience leading complex projects and high levels of capital spend.
Ability to facilitate relations between business groups and technology departments.
Demonstrated familiarity with structured project management methodologies.
Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
Logical and creative problem-solving and analytical skills required.
Proficient in tools such as Microsoft Project, Project Online and SharePoint.
Possesses strong influencing skills (leads by example, clearly articulates business cases and interpretation of cause-effect impact).
Demonstrates high ethics and values.
Highly effective organization and planning skills required.
Interacts appropriately with cross-functional personnel through executive leadership.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills are required.
