    What You Will Do:

  • Completes evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with the established standards and written timeframes of facility policy of care and practice. Independently selects appropriate evaluation tools consistent with patient’s history, diagnosis, and medical status, per documentation and observation. Evaluation techniques are performed safely and accurately, taking into account the patient’s pre-morbid history and current physical psychosocial, and educational status/needs. Long and short term goals are realistic, measurable, and address functional needs. Goals are written upon completion of evaluation.

  • Plans and provides treatment to assigned patients as appropriate in accordance with established standards of care and practice. Demonstrates knowledge about equipment/materials utilized in patient care per observation and chart documentation. Modifies short and long term goals, activities, frequency and/or length of treatment in response to patient’s status in collaboration with team members.

  • Completes all documentation of services for review by other members of the Rehabilitation team. Responsible to independently write clear, concise, relevant, and include documentation that facilitates communication of the patient’s status and ongoing needs.

  • Teaches patients the skills and techniques required for participation in activities; and evaluates patients’ progress, attitudes, and behavior as relates to their rehabilitative potential. Adapts programs according to the needs and abilities of individual patients.

  • Conducts training programs and participates in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

  • Designs and fits adaptive devices such as splints and braces for patient use.

  • Supervises the treatment activities of COTAs and aides.

    What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree from a program accredited by the ACOTE.

  • Licensure in the state of Ohio or license eligible. Registration nationally through the professional association (NBCOT).

  • Previous clinical experience/rehabilitation experience preferred.

  • Current CPR Certification.

  • FOM (Functional Outcome Measures) certification preferred.

  • Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.

  • Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of new research and practices in the field so as to provide the patients the best possible care and treatment.

  • Successful completion of a one hundred eighty (180) day probationary period.
